چکیده

Calcium-dependent protein kinases (CDPKs) play vital roles in metabolic regulations and stimuli responses plants. However, little is known about their function grapevine. Here, we report that VpCDPK9 VpCDPK13, two paralogous CDPKs from Vitis pseudoreticulata accession Baihe-35-1, appear to positively regulate powdery mildew resistance. The transcription of them leaves ‘Baihe-35-1’ were differentially induced upon infection. Overexpression VpCDPK9-YFP or VpCDPK13-YFP the V. vinifera susceptible cultivar Thompson Seedless resulted enhanced resistance (YFP, yellow fluorescent protein). This might be due elevation SA ethylene production, excess accumulation H2O2 callose penetrated epidermal cells and/or mesophyll underneath. Ectopic expression Arabidopsis varied degrees reduced stature, pre-mature senescence these phenotypes abolished transgenic lines impaired signaling (pad4sid2) (ein2). Moreover, both VpCDPK13 found interact with potentially phosphorylate VpMAPK3, VpMAPK6, VpACS1 VpACS2 vivo (ACS, 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) synthase; MAPK, mitogen-activated kinase). These results suggest contribute via regulating

Overexpression of a kinase-deficient form of the EDR1 gene enhances powdery mildew resistance and ethylene-induced senescence in Arabidopsis.

The EDR1 gene of Arabidopsis has previously been reported to encode a Raf-like mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MAPKK) kinase, and to function as a negative regulator of disease resistance. A phylogenetic analysis of plant and animal protein kinases revealed, however, that plant Raf-like kinases are more closely related to animal mixed lineage kinases (MLKs) than Raf-like kinases, and a...

An Arabidopsis mutant with enhanced resistance to powdery mildew.

We have identified an Arabidopsis mutant that displays enhanced disease resistance to the fungus Erysiphe cichoracearum, causal agent of powdery mildew. The edr1 mutant does not constitutively express the pathogenesis-related genes PR-1, BGL2, or PR-5 and thus differs from previously described disease-resistant mutants of Arabidopsis. E. cichoracearum conidia (asexual spores) germinated normall...

A stilbene synthase allele from a Chinese wild grapevine confers resistance to powdery mildew by recruiting salicylic acid signalling for efficient defence

Stilbenes are central phytoalexins in Vitis, and induction of the key enzyme stilbene synthase (STS) is pivotal for disease resistance. Here, we address the potential for breeding resistance using an STS allele isolated from Chinese wild grapevine Vitis pseudoreticulata (VpSTS) by comparison with its homologue from Vitis vinifera cv. 'Carigane' (VvSTS). Although the coding regions of both allel...

The atypical resistance gene, RPW8, recruits components of basal defence for powdery mildew resistance in Arabidopsis.

Genetic studies have identified a number of components of signal transduction pathways leading to plant disease resistance and the accompanying hypersensitive response (HR) following detection of pathogens by plant resistance (R) genes. In Arabidopsis, the majority of R proteins so far characterized belong to a plant superfamily that have a central nucleotide-binding site and C-terminal leucine...
